New Paths: The Saga Continues

High and Wide: Landscape &emdash; New PathsAt the end of June my brother Tom moved to Canberra to pursue further study opportunities. Although not the other side of the world, it is still a big change for us both, as regular readers have probably figured out, we do a lot together.

Being one of our favourite places, we decided to spend one more weekend out at Girraween before he left. A big goal for the trip was for Tom to have one more attempt at his long term project climb, New Paths, and to hopefully get some good photos in the process. He’s now left for greener pastures, so I thought I’d take the opportunity to reflect on the last few years of climbing trips to this amazing park. Continue reading

Photo of the Week – Poondahra Falls

I’ve been crazy busy with work over the last month, which means I’ve had to resort to using my blogging/photo editing time (between 10 and 2 at night) to actually sleep. I finally had a full day on the photos today and did some more finishing touches on this one of Poondahra Falls at Springbrook N.P.

This shot was another from our walk on the Warrie Circuit and I’m sure benefits from the large amount of water that was flowing.

I’m currently in the process of preparing this as a 40 x 60 inch canvas print for a special customer and am super excited to see the end result.

Photo of the Week – Blue Sphinx

Another photo from Girraween N.P. this week. We were on our way back from a day climbing and came across this slightly different view of The Sphinx and Turtle Rock.

The sun had already ducked behind the horizon so we were well into blue hour, but there was still some good colour happening in the clouds when we arrived on this rocky slab. I raced down the hill far enough for the iconic rock formations to create a silhouette, then luckily found these cool formations on the ground for some foreground interest.

This is the latest shot to be added to the gallery. Click the image to be taken through to my Zenfolio portal for print purchases.

I can highly recommend acrylic facemount prints for a modern frameless/floating look while providing stunning, glossy colours and a high level of detail. Ask me about upgrading to metalic paper for that extra bit of pop and a unique finish.
